Learning the alphabet is the first big literacy milestone. Most children benefit from encountering letters hundreds of times across many contexts — songs, tracing, games, books, signs — before the connection between the symbol and the sound becomes automatic.
This page curates every free CellieKids asset that teaches ABCs, plus the parent guide that tells you how to use them together in a consistent 10-minute daily routine.

Why abc & letters matters for early learning
The alphabet is the prerequisite for everything that follows in reading. Kids who arrive at kindergarten knowing their letter sounds outperform those who don't on every measured reading outcome through at least grade 3 — and the gap often widens rather than closes.
But the order matters. Start with letter SOUNDS, not letter NAMES. A child who knows /b/, /c/, /d/ can start blending simple words; a child who only knows the names "Bee, See, Dee" cannot. This is the single most common stuck point in home phonics instruction.
The natural teaching order isn't alphabetical — it's by sound frequency and blendability. The synthetic-phonics order (S, A, T, P, I, N first) opens the most blendable words fastest. See the parent guide below for the full 12-week curriculum.
Three things that actually work at home
Start with sounds, not names
/b/ not "Bee". /c/ not "See". You can transition to names later; sounds unlock reading first.
Use multi-sensory practice
Say the sound while tracing the letter in sand, on a foggy mirror, in the air. Movement locks in memory faster than visual alone.
10 minutes daily beats 1 hour weekly
Consistency is the key variable. A daily 10-minute routine makes more progress than a 70-minute weekend marathon every time.
