How this list was built
There are millions of "kids' educational" sites and apps. Most are awful — aggressive ads, dark patterns, in-app purchases targeted at children, or thinly-disguised marketing for paid products. This list filters hard. Every entry meets four criteria: actually free (or has a substantial free tier), kid-safe (no harmful content, COPPA-aware), ad-light (no aggressive video pre-rolls or pop-ups), and educationally substantive (built by educators or evidence-grounded organizations).
We've grouped the 69+ resources into 7 categories. Each entry has a 1-2 sentence honest description — what's good, what's the catch (if any). CellieKids resources are listed alongside outbound picks; we'd rather you find the right tool than push you to ours.
Updated annually. If you spot a broken link or have a suggestion for a resource that meets the four criteria, email us at [email protected].

Why we list our competitors
Because parents need the right tool, not our tool. CellieKids has 18 games, 10 guides, 6 songs and 20 tools — that's plenty for some families and not enough for others. If your child needs a full-curriculum free app, Khan Academy Kids beats us. If they need read-aloud picture books, Storyline Online is irreplaceable. We'd rather help you find the right thing than fight to keep your attention.
